Yoga Nidra, also referred to as yogic sleep, is a deep form of yogic meditation. In this style, practitioners lie in an extended and heavily propped resting pose called savasana for 30-45 minutes. During this time practitioners are guided through a meditation that slows brain waves creating a dream-like state where the subconscious is accessed. Here patterns at the root of stress are uncovered allowing for deeply held tensions to be released. One is left with feelings of relaxation and peace. Those who practice yoga nidra report reduced anxiety and stress as well as better sleep.

This hour long practice will began with gentle asana (yoga postures) followed by the yoga nidra. Practitioners are invited to wear very comfortable clothing and bring along props to support a relaxed experience, such as an eye pillow. Other props such as mats, blankets and bolsters will be provided.
