Louisville artist Sabra Crockett will share her journey in becoming a self-sufficient creative entrepreneur. How do I become a full time artist? This is one of the most frequently asked questions that we get asked here at Art Inc. Kentucky. Facilitated by Louisville artist Sabra Crockett, owner of Sabralynne Decorative Painting, "How I Became a Full Time Artist" will offer insight into that question. In this workshop, Sabra will recount her journey of becoming a full-time artist and share the steps that she took in the early years of her business that have led her to where she is now. Also, on that same day, we will discuss gallery representation. It is the ultimate goal for many artists. It can signal that your work has been recognized and accepted by credible professionals in the industry. It can also be a good way to gain more exposure for your work, reach more potential buyers who are looking to acquire art work and to have your work well represented in a number of different venues at the same time, as opposed to you having to represent and market your work all by yourself. But what do you need to know when it comes to working with art galleries? Where do you begin? And how do you know if an art gallery is THE right art gallery for you and your work? The workshop will provide insight into the process of researching, approaching and successfully working with art galleries. Topics to be discussed include: How to initially approach a gallery; Determining if the gallery is a good fit for your work and vice versa; Consignment vs selling outright to the gallery; Typical commissions; Determining your art work's price; Inventory tracking; Marketing expectations and What you should and should not do when you are being represented by a gallery.

Registration for this event is offered through LIBA but the event is run by Art Inc.
