Derby City Brewfest

  • 01 May 2015
  • 4:30 PM - 11:59 PM
  • KFC Yum! Center, 1 Arena Plaza, Louisville, KY 40202

KFC Yum!Center Plaza is the place to be for Derby Eve! Come celebrate Kentucky's Original Beer at the Derby City Brewfest on Kentucky Oaks Day, May 1st, at the KFC Yum Center Plaza. With 16+ local craft breweries, 60 plus beers, bourbon and live music from 5 local bands, this is the event for Derby Eve. $10 admission or free with pre-order of drink tickets.

Kentucky-area brewers will revisit the past as part of the Derby Eve Derby City BrewFest on May 1, as they will be serving up their own versions of Kentucky Common – a beer style that was invented in Louisville in the mid 1800s. The historical beer style, which is a light-bodied, dark-colored cream ale, was the beer of choice for most Louisvillians in the late 1800s through Prohibition. At one point, historians estimate, about 80 percent of the beer consumed in Louisville was Kentucky Common, which then was usually simply referred to as “Common Beer” or “Common Cream Ale.”
